Troy McClure
Troy McClure is a B-list 1970s film and TV star, whose career has been reduced to appearances on infomercials and self-help videos. His standard introduction is "Hi, I'm Troy McClure, you might remember me from such [films, TV shows, or educational films] as..." His performances come off as slick and insincere, both on- and off-screen. He is a recovering alcoholic with vision problems. In 1996, when he had to get a vision test at the DMV (which he failed miserably), he got his license renewal approved by asking the clerk, Selma Bouvier, on a date. He used Selma (and later married her) to further his career and squelch the rumors about his bizarre sexual fetish involving fish. The first part of the plan worked, as he was cast as the lead in the Capital City production of the musical "Stop the Planet of the Apes, I Want to Get Off," and was considered to play a sidekick in the then-upcoming McBane movie. The second part of the plan failed when Selma realized that the marriage was a sham and left him.
